Vocal Range Finder & Warm-Ups
Find your comfortable singing range, see it on the keyboard, then warm up with do-re-mi-fa-sol-fa-mi-re-do as it moves up and down the keys.
Step 1
Find your vocal range
Sing "ah" on a comfortable low note, then slide slowly up as high as feels easy. Hold your lowest and highest notes for about a second each.
Your voice stays on this device. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
Tap a key on the keyboard below to hear it, then sing it back. Step down until a note is hard to sing clearly and set your lowest. Then step up and set your highest.
Your range
Use the microphone or the keyboard to find it.
Voice types are an estimate. Tone, comfort and where your voice sounds best matter as much as range. A voice teacher can help you find yours.
Keyboard
Where each note is on a standard-tuned guitar, at the pitch you hear.
Step 2
Warm up up and down the keys
Singing tips
- Stay comfortable. If a note strains or scratches, stop a step or two before it. Range grows with practice, not force.
- Breathe low. Let your belly expand as you breathe in, and keep your shoulders relaxed.
- Start easy. Lip trills and "oo" are gentle ways to warm up before do-re-mi.
- Use headphones with the microphone, so it hears your voice instead of the piano.
