Questions
Flute lesson questions
Do I need my own flute?
Yes. Most students start on a standard student flute. Ask your teacher before you buy or rent so you get a good one for the money.
What age can my child start flute?
Many students start when their school band program begins, often around 4th to 6th grade, but beginners of any age are welcome. Our guide What age should your child start music lessons? walks through how to tell.
Can lessons help with school band?
Yes. Teachers can work on band music alongside tone, technique and reading, so students feel confident in rehearsals and chair tests.
Is it hard to get a sound out of the flute?
The first notes take some practice. Lessons start with breathing and lip position, so students get a clear tone early.
Do you teach other band instruments?
Yes: saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and French horn. Each link opens booking for that instrument.
